Today we take a look at the Gerber Tri-Tip mini cleaver. Although listed for use in a kitchen or camp side cooking, it also makes a great fire material processor. Here is a cool knife, well designed for tradesman, and knife enthusiasts alike. The Crescent CPK350C Harpoon knife. This is a beautiful knife made with 5CR15MOV stainless steel, which may not be the strongest steel out there, but its easy to sharpen and has decent edge retention. It has a black composite handle, ceramic bearings, and a liner lock. It is a bit heavy at 6.5 ounces, but that's in part to the solid steel frame. This knife is comfortable in the hand, and has adding jimping, on the top of the thick blade, and on the bottom just in front of the liner lock. Here is the Barebones Hori Hori Ultimate. This knife/tool has the bamboo handle which is no longer available by Barebones, however the new design has a dark walnut handle. Hori hori literally means dig dig. Its considered a knife, or a garden implement. It has a 4cr13 stainless steel full tang blade, with same material spacer and pommel. It has both a straight plain edge, and a serrated edge, a twine cutter/bottle opener, and is slightly rounded to use for digging, with integrated measurement lines that are 1" apart. The pommel is setup for use as a makeshift hammer as needed. The downside, is the original Suspension is discontinued, although, they can be still found just about everywhere that Gerber gear is sold. On a side note, all of my original Gerber Suspensions came with sheaths. The newer Suspension NXT, has 15 tools, is a tad longer than its predecessor, and a bit lighter. Unfortunately the NXT has lost many of the good traits the original version had, and the one in this review is unusually poor quality for a Gerber product. So I'm not sure if I received some kind of knock-off, or someone was asleep in the factory when mine was produced. Also the NXT model does not come with a sheath, most likely due to the added belt clip. Either way, this video shows the difference between the tools, and pro's and cons. Here is the Rocktol 22 in 1 multi-tool. Its similar in size and equipment to the Leatherman Signal. This tool includes, liner locks on the knife, saw, and scissors, and a separate lock for the drivers, can/bottle opener, and wire strippers. The bit drive is not magnetized, so the bits do fall out, this can be modified by adding a neodymium magnet, and only using single sided bits. The ferocium rod works fine, the whistle is weak, but easily fixable, using the small glasses screwdriver and removing some excess plastic blocking the port on the whistle. Is this a perfect multi-tool? I'm not sure what to say about the Streamlight Nano. Its a 10 lumen keychain light, with a body made of aluminum that's anodized in several colors, like blue, black, red or pink. This tiny LED light uses four cr41 coin batteries, and includes a well designed clasp that can be operated with just one hand. There are no exterior buttons, just turn the lens to turn on and off. Super simple, and built like a tank. The Nitecore TIP SE dual LED key chain flashlight, is relatively well thought out with the exception of the exposed charging Type-C port. The clip is a nice touch, but that lack of a charging port cover to prevent dirt and water ingress when the clip is not in position, is a lost opportunity of a better product. However, per their description, the inside of the charging port is waterproof, so I don't know. This easily carried flashlight is simple to operate, still has a daily and demo mode like the Tini 2 I reviewed prior, but without the LCD screen. oday we take a look at an easily carried or lost, led flashlight. Its tiny, like the name, smaller than a 9volt battery I use as a comparison. It features 5 light outputs, 500 lumen, 200 lumen, 65 lumen, 15 lumen, and 1 lumen. Plus it has 2 lock modes, and 2 run modes. Lock mode 1 is only 500 lumen light works, all others locked out. Lock mode 2, lock outs all the features to prevent accidental discharge. Mode 1 is Demo, meaning as long as its in demo mode, the light will automatically turn off after 30 seconds. Mode 2 is Daily, which is a setup where you have to turn the light off itself, or its will stay on and discharge the battery. This edc flashlight also comes with a small key-ring and clip. This particular light does not come with a Type C charge cable, but did come with an added micro light see in the video. Some packages have a charge cable, but it usually costs extra.
