WHY WE BUILT IT
Establish your foundation first. Calibrating the proper alignment, posture and positioning is what separates potential injury from peak performance. MTNTOUGH’s FORM LAB provides a way for even the most seasoned backcountry or tactical athlete to hone and improve their techniques to crush it for the long haul.
Being mountain ready is about form as well as function. And correct form is the key to preventing injuries, optimizing performance and conserving energy. No one wants to be at a disadvantage when faced with a steep climb or heavy pack-out, which is why MTNTOUGH partnered with retired U.S. Army Major and world-champion powerlifter Donny Bigham to bring you a way to obtain a baseline assessment and biomechanical analysis of 12 of the most common exercises.
More weight and more reps could only hurt you if done improperly. Use FORM LAB to fix your weaknesses now so you can continually improve your performance and prevent new injuries from occurring. In these fully-coached videos, Major Bigham provides detailed prescriptions on how to correct deficiencies in movements like deadlifts, bench presses, lunges, pull-ups, kettlebell snatches, squats, sprinting, running, and moving under axial load.
When was the last time you analyzed your movement patterns?
That’s not a rhetorical question. Do it today.

MEET YOUR COACH:
Retired Major Donny Bigham has over 27 years of service in the Marine Corps and the U.S. Army with 48 months of combat deployments to Bosnia, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Yemen. He co-authored the Occupational Performance Assessment Test for initial screening of future soldiers and designed the Tactical Athlete Performance Center (TAP-C) at Fort Jackson and Fort Benning, emphasizing true strength, mobility, and speed to increase lethality and survivability. MTN Mindset 2.0 Intro - Mental Toughness 10 Day Course - with Phil Kornachuk
Get access to the program in the MTNTOUGH+ App
WHY WE BUILT IT
Quitting when the going gets tough isn’t an option. And physical strength is only one part of that equation. Backcountry athletes at peak performance understand that mental endurance – mental toughness – is what makes them the holistic warrior, ready to tackle whatever challenges come their way. MTNTOUGH understands that grit and determination can be learned, which is why we partnered with Phil Kornachuk for MTN MINDSET 2.0. This program builds upon the framework already established in MTN MINDSET 1.0 and delivers practical exercises that create mindful habits for the mountains and beyond.
Kornachuk brings his 23 years of military experience and leadership training to the MTNTOUGH community through this 10-video program. MTN Mindset 2.0 videos should be viewed consecutively over a 10-day period for ultimate impact and mental growth. Each video includes a brief introduction of the topic and a three-to-four-minute movement exercise followed by 10 minutes of mental toughness coaching and a short homework assignment.
Small changes can lead to great results. And forming new healthy mentally tough habits are an integral part of that. MTN MINDSET 2.0 is designed to fit into your busy life. Kornachuk recommends beginning each day with the short video series to center yourself and practice the lessons taught throughout the program. These lessons will include discussions on purpose, values, goals, planning, visualization, overcoming adversity and more.
At MTNTOUGH, we believe that our physical strength will only take us so far and, without mental toughness, we are not as strong as we can be in our mind, body and soul. MTN MINDSET 2.0 allows everyone in the MTNTOUGH community – no matter your physical ability – the chance to unlock true potential to be extraordinary in all facets of life – on the mountains, at work and at home.
WHAT AND HOW
Make mental toughness a daily practice
Physical strength will only take you so far. Enrich your body, mind and soul by incorporating mental toughness every day.
Small changes = great results
Create new habits that apply to all facets of life – the mountain, work and home.
10 minutes x 10 days
MTN Mindset 2.0 videos should be viewed consecutively over a 10-day period for ultimate impact and mental growth.

MTNTOUGH Podcast: Michael Easter - Author of The Comfort Crisis & Founder of 2%
Michael Easter stands at the forefront of the intersection between modern scientific discoveries and ancestral wisdom, pioneering improvements in health, life significance and professional performance. His passion drives him to journey across the globe, immersing himself in the company of intellectual giants and those who choose to lead extreme lives. His insights and experiences are shared globally through his published works, podcasts and television appearances.
He is the mastermind behind the bestselling book, “The Comfort Crisis,” which has resonated worldwide and has been translated into 10 languages. Its impact has been so profound that it has been embraced by Major League Baseball teams, elite NCAA D1 football programs, prestigious universities, law institutions, multinational corporations and top-level military units.
Michael's work emphasizes that while science offers many solutions, it doesn't capture the full spectrum of human experience and well-being. His approach uniquely bridges the measurable and the immeasurable, interweaving diverse fields such as medicine, anthropology, theology, philosophy and authentic accounts of ordinary individuals achieving extraordinary feats.
Michael firmly asserts that profound insights and understanding are not found in the confines of a screen. His adventurous spirit has led him to interact with monks in Bhutan's ancient monasteries, lost tribes in Bolivian jungles, US Special Forces in secret locations, genetic scientists in Iceland, underworld figures in Iraq and CEOs in Fortune-500 boardrooms, among others.
His pioneering ideas and work have reached over 60 countries and earned the endorsement of esteemed individuals, including CIA directors, Navy SEALs, Olympic gold medalists, renowned physicians, Pulitzer Prize winners, spiritual and environmental leaders. His writings are featured in reputable publications like Men’s Health, where he serves as a contributing editor, as well as Outside, Men’s Journal, Cosmopolitan, Vice, Esquire, Scientific American and Women’s Health. He has been a guest on top-rated podcasts such as The Joe Rogan Experience, Art of Manliness, Impact Theory, NPR and EconTalk.
Michael has provided his expertise to elite universities, medical schools, Fortune-500 companies, government agencies and significant nonprofits across the nation.
Apart from his global adventures, Michael is an esteemed professor in the journalism department at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), where he co-founded and co-directs the Public Communications Institute.
He resides on the outskirts of Las Vegas, where the desert begins, with his wife and their two dogs, Stockton and Conway.
Michael's 2% Substack:
The 2% represents the philosophy that only about 2% of individuals choose the more difficult path, which is also the one that provides greater long-term rewards. It's based upon a study that found only 2% of people choose to take the stairs when an escalator is available—a metaphor for the harder, but more rewarding path in life. This mindset, which is emblematic of the determined, gritty and persevering, is core to the mission of this new platform.
In a world where health and wellness information can be oversimplified by mainstream media or overcomplicated by influencers, 2% with Michael Easter aims to provide a reliable and practical middle ground. It leverages cutting-edge science, expert insights and wisdom across various disciplines to deliver health and performance advice that's both profound and applicable in everyday life.
There's a free newsletter where you can get access to two free posts per week and an upgraded subscription with a wealth of additional value.
