Cobra Kai is coming to an end on Netflix, as the sixth season of the acclaimed Karate Kid sequel series will be its last. During this year's Netflix Is a Joke Fest, the streaming service dropped some big news about Cobra Kai Season 6. Not only did fans get word as to when the final episodes will drop, but folks also got a glimpse at what's in store thanks to a brand new teaser trailer.

The teaser for Cobra Kai Season 6 dropped on Tuesday morning, offering up some footage from the final karate showdown for Daniel and Johnny's students. You can check out the full teaser in the video below!

In addition to the release of the teaser, Netflix also unveiled its release strategy for Cobra Kai's final season. The supersized Season 6 will consist of 15 total episodes, which will be released in three batches over the span of several months.

Part 1 of Cobra Kai Season 6 is set to be released on Netflix July 18th. A few months later, on November 28th, Part 2 will be released. Part 3 — the final batch of Cobra Kai episodes — will be released at some point in 2025, but a specific release date hasn't yet been announced.

Season 6 picks up after the events of Season 5, and sees the Cobra Kai students embark on a journey to compete in the karate world championships, where they will face their toughest opponents yet. Here's Netflix's official description of Cobra Kai Season 6:

"Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai — the world championships of karate."

One of the biggest questions surrounding the final season of Cobra Kai is whether or not Hilary Swank will have a role at some point. Many of the lead actors from the various Karate Kid movies have appeared on the show at one point or another, but The Next Karate Kid's Swank has yet to show up. While speaking to Collider earlier this year, the actress didn't offer fans too much hope about her potential Karate Kid return.

"I don't think I am, unfortunately," Swank said. "I know. It's, like, the number one question I get right now. Most people usually say, 'What's it like working with Clint Eastwood?' But I think, 'Are you going to be on Cobra Kai has almost surpassed that?'"
“Cobra Kai” Season 6 is getting a super-sized sendoff.

As part of the Netflix Is A Joke Festival, the streaming giant has announced that the final season of the popular series will consist of 15 episodes, with the season to be split into three five-episode blocks. The first five episodes will premiere on July 18, while the second batch of five will premiere on Nov. 28. The final five episodes of the series will premiere in 2025 with an exact date to be announced at a later date.

Netflix has also released a teaser trailer and for the new season, which can be seen below.

Cobra Kai season 6 trailer teases final showdown between old rivals Daniel and Johnny after 40 years of anticipation.
Official trailer reveals release date for final season, split into three parts with first episodes dropping July 18, 2024.
Johnny and Daniel's final rematch in Cobra Kai season 6 expected to bring closure after series of draws, with Johnny likely to win.
The trailer for Cobra Kai teases a moment we have been eagerly waiting for, which was first set up 40 years ago in The Karate Kid. The final season of the Netflix series will wrap up Johnny Lawrence's story, and presumably set up the continuation of the Miyagiverse into the upcoming 2025 Karate Kid movie. This means, of course, resolving some of the conflicts that have been ongoing ever since Johnny was in high school in the 1980s. All these years later, the top student of the titular Cobra Kai has a chance to settle the score.

Cobra Kai season 6 faced several delays, but it is finally on the way, with an officially trailer dropped in April 2024. The teaser revealed that this final installment in the Netflix series will be released in three parts, with the first handful of episodes releasing July 18, 2024, the next on November 28, 2024, and the last sometime in 2025. Along with this reveal, the Cobra Kai season 6 trailer included a few scenes that will presumably be part of the first few episodes, and these provided some hints about what we can expect.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Trailer Teases A Final Rematch For Johnny & Daniel
Daniel & Johnny Face Each Other & Bow In The New Cobra Kai Trailer

Near the beginning of the Cobra Kai season 6 trailer, text flashes across the screen that says, "The end of a legacy deserves a grand finale." This is accompanied by a clip of Daniel and Johnny's match at the All-Valley Tournament in 1984's The Karate Kid movie. Then, the following shot shows rivals, now 40 years older, bowing to one another as if preparing to fight.

This seems to indicate that Johnny and Daniel will finally get a true rematch in Cobra Kai season 6, which audiences have eagerly awaited. Of course, at this point in the story, the pair are no longer at one another's throats. Though they are still highly competitive, they are more like friends than true rivals, so a big final battle won't be nearly as aggressive as it was in The Karate Kid. Still, seeing Daniel and Johnny finally settle their differences several decades after their iconic battle is a perfect way to kick off Cobra Kai's final season.

Cobra Kai's series finale will be followed by a new Karate Kid movie, releasing May 30, 2025.

All Daniel & Johnny's Cobra Kai Fights Have Been Draws
Johnny & Daniel's All-Valley Match In Karate Kid Is The Last Of Their Fights With A Clear Victor

Of course, this won't be the first time that Daniel and Johnny will have sparred in Cobra Kai. They may get along pretty well by season 6, but earlier episodes told a different story. Both have instigated fights in the past and though they were fun to watch, each ended in a draw. In season 2, Daniel attacked Johnny at his apartment after discovering that Sam had spent the night there with Robby, but the fight was broken up before a resolution. The same was true for the garage fight in season 3, and the pair's tournament-style match in Cobra Kai, season 4, ended with both being simultaneously KOed.

The fact that Cobra Kai has thus far not allowed either Johnny or Daniel to get a leg up on the other seems to indicate that a true rematch has been saved for the end...

The fact that Cobra Kai has thus far not allowed either Johnny or Daniel to get a leg up on the other seems to indicate that a true rematch has been saved for the end, and it looks like season 6 is when this will finally pay off. There have been years of anticipation built up toward this moment between The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, and it's sure to be among the Netflix series' more exciting matches. Of course, it's currently unclear who would be the victor of this final epic battle.

Who Will Win Daniel & Johnny's Final Cobra Kai Rematch?
Johnny Is Likely To Win, But Cobra Kai Will Have To Make It Interesting

As previously mentioned, all but Daniel and Johnney's All-Valley match in The Karate Kid has ended in a draw, which indicates that the pair are pretty evenly matched in Cobra Kai. However, someone has to win in this final battle, and it's pretty easy to guess who it will be. Since Daniel won in the 1984 movie, and Johnny is the main character of the spinoff series, it stands to reason that victory would this time be his. This would make the rivals even for the end of Cobra Kai, with each holding a single victory along with a spattering of draws.

The real question of Cobra Kai season 6 is how the series will make Johnny's win interesting. Since the result itself is predictable, there must be an added factor that will allow the match to satisfy the heavy anticipation that has been so intentionally built up over the years. At the very least, this final rematch between Daniel and Johnny needs to be highly dramatic, full of the flair and style that Cobra Kai has become known for, allowing the moment to stand out as the perfect way to resolve Johnny's 40-year-long story.
Cobra Kai is kicking off its sixth and final season.

Netflix first announced the show’s renewal in January 2023, as creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg shared their thoughts on the "bittersweet" decision via Instagram.

"Reacquainting the world with the Karate Kid universe has been our humble honor," they wrote. "It has enabled us to play sensei, expanding the original storylines and birthing a new generation of underdogs. We've never once taken this opportunity for granted."

They continued, "Our Day 1 goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we've always imagined. While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger. This fandom is the BEST on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know: Cobra Kai Never Dies."

While only a handful of details have been announced so far, the teaser trailer released in January 2023 said fans can expect the "biggest" and "baddest" season yet.

During the Atlanta Comic Convention in February 2023, Macchio teased that production for season 6 was expected to start in May 2023. However, when May rolled around, Cobra Kai writer Jon Hurwitz revealed that the show’s writers were part of the WGA strike.

“We hate to strike, but if we must, we strike hard. Pencils down in the Cobra Kai writers room,” he wrote at the time. “No writers on set. These aren't fun times, but it's unfortunately necessary. The moment a fair deal is in place, we'll get back to kicking ass. In the meantime, sending strength and support to the negotiating committee.”

Get ready for a supersized final season of Cobra Kai, with 15 episodes set to kick off on July 18.
The showdown between Johnny and Daniel takes center stage as they mentor the next generation of fighters.
While Season 6 isn't necessarily the end of the Valley's story, fans can expect some surprises and potential crossovers.
As the sun begins to set on Cobra Kai, one final showdown awaits before viewers bid farewell to Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). Netflix released the first teaser announcing the arrival of the Karate Kid spin-off series' supersized sixth season as a three-part streaming event beginning this summer. The show's final run will consist of 15 episodes instead of the usual 10 and is set to kick off with part one on July 18. Part two will follow on November 28 with the finale event closing things out sometime next year.

Season 6 will pick up in the aftermath of Cobra Kai and Terry Silver's (Thomas Ian Griffith) defeat at the end of Season 5. With one of the biggest threats in the Valley out of the way, Miyagi-Do now sets its sights on the world championships of karate, better known as the Sekai Taikai. The teaser sets the stage for another face-off between old rivals Johnny and Daniel, but now on much friendlier terms as they work to raise up the next generation of fighters. Everything the series has built up throughout five seasons will come to a head on the biggest stage possible, but there are other stories to wrap up ahead of the big competition. Martin Kove's ruthless John Kreese escaped from prison last season and looks to resurrect Cobra Kai once again with his "no mercy" style alongside sensei Kim (Alicia Hannah-Kim).

The main cast is expected to return for the final showdown, with Zabka, Macchio, and Kove joined throughout the series by Sean Kanan, Yuji Okumoto, Courtney Henggeler, Vanessa Rubio, and Paul Walter Hauser. Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña will also return as Miguel Diaz opposite fellow young fighters Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Peyton List, Gianni DeCenzo, Dallas Dupree Young, Joe Seo, and Griffin Santopietro. One person confirmed not to be joining the fun is Hilary Swank, who squashed any hopes of returning to the Valley earlier this year, though Season 6 may still have a few surprises for long-time fans in store.

'Cobra Kai' Season 6 Won't Be the Definitive End of The Valley's Story
Cobra Kai still has many personal storylines to wrap up involving its adult and teen characters, but the final season is also built to widen the Miyagiverse, according to co-creator Jon Hurwitz. His fellow showrunners and series masterminds, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, concur with the idea of leaving the door open for future projects set in this world, namely another spinoff. Once the series ends, however, all eyes will be on the new Karate Kid movie, with Macchio also reprising his role for the project alongside Ben Whang and Jackie Chan, which was recently delayed until next year. The door is open for some crossover between the two and, with the delay, the series could flow smoothly into whatever writer Rob Liebel and director Jonathan Entwistle have planned.

Cobra Kai season 5 is not the end of the global hit series. Here's everything we know so far about when Cobra Kai season 6 will hit Netflix.

Sam LaRusso vs Tory Nichols
Sam & Tory Can Fully Work Out Their Differences In Cobra Kai Season 6

Tory and Sam's rivalry became vital for most of Cobra Kai ever since the pair were set at odds when the former started dating Robby in season 2. This came to a head with the big school fight during that season's finale, in which Tory's rage and violence caused Sam to be seriously injured. The battle had a significant psychological impact on Sam, who spent the next couple of seasons overcoming her fear of Tory before they faced off in the championship fight at the All-Valley Tournament at the end of Cobra Kai season 4.

Tory came out victorious in this season's match, but since it was later revealed that Terry Silver bribed the All-Valley referee, she has no way of knowing if she won the championship title for real. The star Cobra Kai student came a long way morally over seasons 4 and 5, and the last we saw her, she was eager to work with the Miyagi-Dos—including Sam—to make things right. Now, Tory and Sam are on much better terms, but that doesn't mean they are any less eager to beat the other in a fair fate. It looks like they will have their chance to do just that in the upcoming season.

One of the first clips seen in the Cobra Kai season 6 trailer shows Tory and Sam practicing karate side by side. Tory is wearing a Miyagi-Do gi, indicating that she has joined Daniel LaRusso's dojo rather than Johnny's Eagle Fang. While this means she is officially on the same team as Tory, the following scene that shows them facing each other and gearing to fight proves there will still be some exciting fights between the duo in Cobra Kai season 6. As for who will win, it's difficult to say.

Johnny Lawrence vs Chozen Toguchi
Chozen vs Johnny Is The Legacy Match We Didn't Know We Needed

Part of what makes Cobra Kai work so well is the way it flips the bill and takes the perspective of Karate Kid's villains. The central protagonist, Johnny, was the main villain of the first Karate Kid movie, and he has made great strides at improving himself throughout the spinoff series. The same is true for Chozen, who was the central villain of The Karate Kid Part 2. He was brought into Cobra Kai during season 3 and has since become one of the more lovable characters of the series.

Of course, Johnny and Chozen being good doesn't make them any less powerful fighters. The pair proved in Cobra Kai season 5 that they were forces to be reckoned with when they broke into Terry Silver's home and held their own against a group of skilled karate sensei. Chozen's fight with Silver was especially riveting, since he utilized a pair of sai against the villain's katana. It was one of the most incredible displays of skill in Cobra Kai, which makes the possibility of a fight between Johnny and Chozen all the more intriguing.

This pair has never been particularly competitive with one another, but as two excellent fighters, this is the match we never knew we needed.

The Corba Kai season 6 trailer sees Johnny and Chozen bowing to one another for a tournament-style match, but the scene cuts off before we see any actual combat. This pair has never been particularly competitive with one another, but as two excellent fighters, this is the match we never knew we needed. Additionally, there's something highly nostalgic about these two The Karate Kid villains, who never knew each other back in the 1980s, facing off to determine which is the stronger fighter.

3
Johnny Larence vs Daniel LaRusso
The One Karate Kid Rematch To Rule Them All

Johnny and Daniel have had quite a journey together in The Karate Kid franchise. Their rivalry started in 1984 when the New Jersey kid moved in on Johnny's girlfriends, and the rest is history. Their conflict came to its apex in The Karate Kid when they faced off at the All-Valley Tournament, and though it was a close match, Daniel walked away with the championship title. Johnny even gave Daniel his seal of approval, choosing to award the boy with the trophy himself while delivering the line "You're alright, LaRusso."

Of course, this wasn't the end. It's later revealed in The Karate Kid Part 2 that Johnny's second-place win caused a dangerous riff between him and John Kreese. Cobra Kai eventually explained that this conflict led Johnny down a dark path, and all those years later, he had a lot of resentment against Daniel LaRusso—who became a wealthy dealership owner. When Daniel set himself against Johnny's newly reopened Cobra Kai, it was salt in the wound, and the pair have gone fist-to-fist several times since then, though each battle has ended in a draw.

Hopefully, Cobra Kai season 6 is when this will change. The trailer featured a clip of the young duo's All-Valley match in 1984, followed by a flash-forward 40 years to the pair bowing to one another preparing to fight. These scenes are accompanied by the text "The end of a legacy deserves a grand finale," which hints that Johnny and Daniel will battle it out one last time. Since all their fights in Cobra Kai have been interrupted before anyone won (or they simultaneously KOed each other), season 6 will determine who the better fighter is.

Johnny and Daniel faced off for a tournament-style match in Cobra Kai season 4, but they both knocked each other out at precisely the same time, resulting in a draw.

2
Anthony LaRusso vs Kenny Payne
Anthony & Kenny Are The Last Real Rivalry Left In Cobra Kai

As exciting as many of these teased Cobra Kai season 6 fights are, they're dampened down slightly because most of the rivalries of past installments have been worked out. Tory and Sam aren't nearly as vicious toward each other as they once were, and they will even be allies in the upcoming season. Johnny and Daniel, though competitive, no longer have it out for one another, so a big fight won't be nearly as aggressive. Going into Cobra Kai season 6, the only true rivalry left is between Anthony LaRusso and Kenny Payne.

The tension between this duo began in Cobra Kai season 2 when Kenny was a sweet new student whom Anthony and his gang viciously bullied. This inspired the boy to seek help, and, unfortunately, he found it at Cobra Kai. Before too long, John Kreese had turned Kenny into a monster, and after some harsh lessons, Anthony became remorseful for his past actions. Despite efforts to make amends, the pair have continued to be at odds. Cobra Kai season 5 saw Kenny realize that Terry Silver wasn't who he thought he was, but that doesn't mean his anger has subsided.

Anthony and Kenny are seen fighting in some batting cages, and Daniel's son pulls off an impressive move in which he punches one of the baseballs in mid-air, launching it toward Kenny.

Anthony and Kenny's fight in Cobra Kai season 6 is guaranteed since several clips in the trailer show the duo in actual combat. This looks like it will be a pretty exciting match. Rather than a fair, tournament-style battle, Anthony and Kenny are seen fighting in some batting cages, and Daniel's son pulls off an impressive move in which he punches one of the baseballs in mid-air, launching it toward Kenny. It's precisely the flavor of Cobra Kai and certainly looks like a battle to look forward to.

1
Miyagi-Fang vs Cobra Kai
The Cobra Kai Season 6 Trailer Features Another Big Group Fight

A unique feature of Cobra Kai compared to the original Karate Kid movies is the prevalence of massive group fights, and this has become one of the things to look forward to from season to season. The first that stood out was the school fight in Cobra Kai season 2, which saw Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai go all out in a violent display in the high school halls. From there, there have been similar battles at Miyagi-Do, the LaRusso home, arcades, and more.

Of course, this dojo rivalries has changed significantly over the years. Johnny's original Cobra Kai students are now Eagle Fang, with some having even switched to Miyagi-Do. The two dojos have become allies pitted against Terry Silver's Cobra Kai. With this villain in prison as of the end of season 5, it's unclear how ownership of the dojo will shake out, but John Kreese's line in the Cobra Kai season 6 trailer, "Cobra Kai is back," indicates that he will step back in as head sensei.

With Kreese back in control, the animosity between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Fang dojos will continue, and other big group fights are teased. The Cobra Kai trailer included a few clips showing Miguel, Demetri, Hawk, and, most surprisingly, Kyler fighting together at what appears to be an arcade, battling it out with an unknown group of teens. Given Kreese's return, it's likely that these are Cobra Kai's newest students, and more group fights indicate plenty more excitement to expect in Cobra Kai's finale season.
