we're going to look at pride and the and the need to be humble we need to walk in humility I've got
going to hear from John MacArthur Proverbs 6
this is the pride of the heart Proverbs 8:13 the fear of the Lord is hatred of evil pride and arrogance in the way of evil in a perverted speech I hate proverbs 21:4 haughty eyes and a proud heart the lamp of the wicked are sin this is the pride that we all have within us in our sinful flesh that we need to continually put off this Pride says I can do it on my own I don't need you Lord I don't need to depend upon you this pride is what keeps us from coming to the Lord in prayer this pride is what keeps us from asking him for wisdom and it's this Pride when taken to a great extreme
continually humbled by God's word we need to walk in humility

Spurgeon is a man that wanted to be humble
if any of us this morning don't think that we're tempted to Pride and tempted to be proud at times then we have obtained that same delusion
we need to walk in humility
we know that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble let us seek to walk in humility Scott says this about Pride he says just as pride is the root of every evil humility is the root of every virtue John MacArthur says humility is is terribly elusive because if focused on too much it will turn into Pride it's very opposite humility is a virtue to humility it demonstrates really that you don't have humility nobody should be walking around saying I am such a humble Christian that just wouldn't seem to fit and we'll give Charles Spurgeon the last word on this
