In today's discussion about No Man's Sky, we're talking about 10 of the game mechanics, game mechanic limitations, and pre-order ship information as we know of it right now. No Man's Sky is an open world, but there are more limitations about how much you can disrupt the various planets than you might think. There won't be total control in building buildings or elaborate structures like in Minecraft, and the very depth that you can terraform the planets will have a hard limit, at the moment 128 meters below the surface. Interestingly water physics do exist, and water will flow into holes and spaces dug out by players, which interestingly enough is a major question that quite a few people have asked. Many others wanted to know what is so special about the pre-order ships that will come with the Playstation 4 and PC version of the game, although there's really less unique about them than you might think. Not that they're bad mind you, however as in most games, it seems that any little pre-order benefits will have very minor if any impact to the actual start of the game.

It's fortunate that Sean Murray decided to put NPCs in the game, as it appears that these procedurally generated races will have quite an impact on the overall gameplay. You'll have various reputation that you can earn with each of the factions, although it won't exactly be as neatly indicated by a physical number like you might see on World of Warcraft or something other game where reputation grinding exists.

It appears that moving about the systems will be fairly swift, especially if you've previously discovered the planets within it, which is nice, especially for someone like me who might want to set up a dedicated trading route. Speaking of trading, apparently there will be ships a bit larger than the starting ship which you can own with large amounts of cargo space. The developer does want to keep the overall size of the ownable ships small, but this freighter is at least several times larger than the starter ship.

Anyway, as always I appreciate any feedback, information, and opinions any of you might have. As always I look forward to hearing from you, and I hope to hear about your exploits in the game once it launches!
