Being a notary is actually quite simple. Be 18 years of age and legal resident of the state. Before the application process, you first need to get your state’s handbook, so you can be familiar with the state law where you reside.

The length of time a notary has been in business and their experience level can also affect their salary or income if they are a notary entrepreneur. Marketing skill level is a huge factor here. As a true notary entrepreneur the income potential becomes 6-figures when done right!

Mobile notaries tend to make up for the additional travel fees. A mobile notary business is great for several reasons. It is the best way to make extra money part time. It costs little to start, has the potential to make good money! Being a mobile notary affords you the opportunity to be your own boss and pick your own hours to work. These transactions are usually quick and the resulting income is higher than the average notary salary. By driving to different locations like assisted living facilities or the hospital you are able to make as much as a full time job with just travel fees.

Another opportunity for notaries that has come upon the industry in recent months is remote online notarizations. In most of the 50 states, you can remotely perform electronic notary for anyone else anywhere in the United States. This is a huge leveraging opportunity and a great way to work from home. The target market for doing loan signings is real estate agents, title companies, escrow officers, and some law firms. In all honesty, to transition from being just a part-time loan signing agent that is dependent on signing companies, to becoming a true notary entrepreneur that has their own business, you need a training course (like mine).

In spite of all the hype that the now viral tiktok goofball Mark Wills is spinning, being a notary signing agent is subject to having prime real estate and lending markets. It’s slow at the moment. It will come back but Mark and Jon Snedeker are acting like the situation doesn’t exist. Some seasoned notaries are even quitting, while others are subjecting themselves to low-pay things like field inspection services. High-ticket notary public services still exist outside of this real estate niche. In a recent interview with Celebrity Podcaster Chriss Voss, I referred to this as an entry-level position.

Notaries can earn massive additional income by selling notary-related products and services. These can include selling notary supplies, providing training classes for new notaries, or even offering other high-demand legal services. Some notaries may even offer document preparation services, such as filling out forms or helping people prepare forms for a court appearance as long as you are not offering legal advice. You can also seek out government contracts. We personally cross-sell services like apostilles, fingerprinting, taxes, and credit repair. All easy to learn and low start-up. It also helps big time to know how to be highly visible on the internet. It makes a huge difference in the volume of work you can receive, literally effortless once the right systems are in place.
