Woodturning - It was supposed to be a water feature!
Started this one a few weeks back, the original idea was to make a water feature, after I thought I had finished and just needed to make a base and install a pump and then I changed my mind and turned it into a speaker.
The wood is Silver Birch which has started to spalt, I took this tree down myself and the log was sealed at both ends the same day which surprised me once I started turning how much spalting had taken place.
Finished in Danish oil, originally I was going to cover in Epoxy, however there was no need now as its made for inside.
Will have to let the speaker settle now for a few months and possibly rework the top, I've noticed a small amount of movement in the wood with the hot temperatures we have had recently, just goes to show wood is never as dry as you think.
Speaker is a 2" Dayton Audio with a 2" Passive at the base. Mono 30W Amp with Bluetooth.
