Although dolphins attacking humans are quite rare, there have been enough instances and in the past decade it seems as if the number of dolphin attacks per year has increased.

Dolphins are the 2nd most intelligent being on earth right after humans .. And the terrifying part being, Just as humans always on a race to create stronger weapons, stronger means of attack .. likewise, Dolphins are always on the move for creating new ways and tricks to attack their prey and even more impressive, dolphins have the ability to communicate their unique tricks with other dolphins, allowing them to improvise and team up.

Sometimes, they will gather in teams of more than a thousand to hunt, which is a pretty terrifying thought.

We also often under estimate how incredible powerful dolphins are.
They have between 80 and 100 sharp teeth that they use to rip apart their prey and when they do attack they do more than just bite their victims.

In 2013, A woman named Valerie Ryan went swimming off the coast of County Clare, Ireland and for reasons unknown, A typically friendly dolphin named dusty who was known for swimming around with the locals, got a bit aggressive that day.

As Valerie started swimming towards Dusty, Dusty became territorial and attacked her by knocking her with incredible speed by it's snout, leaving her with a damaged lung, three broken ribs, and six spinal fractures.

All this was done by just one single dolphin. Hence you could imagine how powerful they could be when they attack together as a group, which they do.

That bring us to the highly sexual nature of dolphins.

Male dolphins are often known to go in groups and gang rape female dolphins and there have been few recorded instance where they try to make sexual advances towards humans as well ... Due to copyright infringement I won't be able to share those videos, but I'll share those links in the description.

Now, I might have shown quite the dark side of dolphins but that's just how they are, They find it fun to torture and bully other marine animals,

And this might sound surprising, They are always known to bully sharks .. Yes sharks, And the credit for doing so goes to one particular breed of dolphins known as orcas or killer whales.

Orcas have earned the name killer whales for their ability to hunt and take down whales including the largest creature on the planet: an adult blue whale.

As interesting as Orcas are, I'll keep that a topic for another video,

now, back to the main question do dolphins intentionally attack humans, No they do not unless provoked. I have shown you the dark side of dolphins, and that's to make you aware of what they are capable of but at the same time, dolphins do deserve credit for being friendly towards humans as there are many reports on dolphins saving humans from drowning and also alerting us when sharks are round.

Dolphins are lovely and intelligent marine animals who we should appreciate but while keeping our distances.
