Summer is a fun time of year and one of my (Emmaline's) family's favorite things to do is to pick berries. We like to drive to a local U-Pick berry farm and pick up beautiful and juicy berries. Strawberries are of course a family favorite, but raspberries and blackberries are close contenders. Let's not forget blueberries and triple crown berries!

Blackberries were a special treat about 14 years ago when we lived on the Olympic Peninsula. Blackberries grew wild alongside the road to our home and frequently the kids and I would stop and grab a small bucket I kept in the back of the SUV and pick some. Mind you, my kids were ages 2 and an infant so really it was me picking berries trying to keep the toddler out of the "POKIES" as the baby was strapped to my chest in one of those old awkward baby carriers. I so wish those new fandangle nowadays baby wraps were a thing when my kids were infants. Obviously, I have no idea what they are called, but I would have ROCKED that thing.

Anyways, I digress. Those blackberries made awesome jam and my toddler was so proud when daddy would come home from work and he would announce, "Daddy, I make jam!" His berry smile was enormous as his sticky hands help up the container of jam to show off his handiwork. In his fragmented sentences, he would declare to everyone that he made that jam all by himself. As the proud mama I was, I declare "You sure did and it's the yummiest jam mama ever tasted!"

Without further adieu let's teach you how to make triple berry freezer jam so you can create memories with your family.

Steps to Make Homemade Triple Berry Freezer Jam:
Remove all the green tops off the strawberries and wash all the berries.

Mash 2 cups of crushed strawberries, 1 cup of crushed raspberries, and 1 cup of crushed blackberries.

In a separate bowl, stir together 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 5 tablespoons of Ball instant pectin.

Add the sugar/pectin blend to the crushed berries and stir until mixed well and evenly disbursed.

Let it stand for 30 minutes. Then, place in clean containers with lids and freeze for up to 1 year.

Note: You can also place it into your containers before resting. The key here is to allow the jam to rest for 30 minutes before placing it into the freezer.
