$320m US-built Gaza aid pier sinks
The $320 million floating pier, erected by the US military to receive aid, has partially sunk mere days after being completed. The pier appears to have been damaged by the sea, according to the Pentagon, who said that high seas and a strong African weather system had caused the pier to break apart.
Deputy Defense Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said the army would start rebuilding the supplementary, temporary pier. ‘The rebuilding and repairing of the pier will take at least over a week, and, following completion, will need to be re-anchored to the coast of Gaza,’ she said.

CrossTalk | NATO chooses war
It is now commonplace to hear that Ukraine is on its last legs. Its collapse is only a matter of time. In many ways this is true. However, all of this overlooks the fact that NATO is unwilling to accept defeat in this conflict. For this aggressive military alliance, more escalation is on the agenda.
CrossTalking with Angelo Giuliano, Tarik Cyril Amar, and David Oualaalou.

Man escapes draft officers with help of local women
Footage has emerged of a man in Dnepr, Ukraine reportedly being helped to escape from a gang of military recruiters. In the video, which appeared on Telegram, a group of women can be seen crowding round a van, and appear to help a man climb through the window. It’s not clear who the other occupants of the van are, but reports suggest they were draft officers, and that the crowd of women blocked the van while the man made his escape – even giving him time to retrieve his bike from the trunk.
The officers don’t seem to react to the man’s escape; whether they didn’t know or just didn’t care remains a mystery.

News anchor calmly eats fly on air
An American journalist made headlines herself after swallowing a fly during a live news broadcast.
Vansessa Welch was reading out a story about domestic violence when a fly invaded the studio and annexed her eyelashes. Welch carried on reading the news in a manner that suggested ‘look, I know there’s a fly on me, but let’s pretend there’s not.’ The fly, emboldened by a perceived lack of action, decided to further extend its territorial gains to her mouth. This was its greatest, and most final, mistake.
In a stunning and stoic display of professionalism, Welch asserted her dominance over the fly by swallowing it wholesale, and, barely missing a beat, continued to read out the story. o.

Clashes as thousands of protesters condemn Israel’s attack on Rafah
Demonstrators took to the streets of the French capital on Monday to denounce an Israeli strike on a Rafah refugee camp which killed at least 45 people. The crowds could be seen waving Palestinian flags and banners, chanting and lighting flares. Some carried ‘Wanted’ posters of Macron, Biden and Olaf Scholtz. Local media estimate around 10,000 protesters marched through Paris, while similar demonstrations took place in Barcelona and Amsterdam.
Clashes ultimately erupted between protesters and riot police, who used stun grenades and tear gas on the crowds as protesters fled to safety.
Israel has attracted widespread condemnation for its attack on Rafah’s Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood, which they originally claimed targeted ‘Hamas leaders,’ and was later found to have killed civilians.
