A clip from my 2011 appearance on The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert, in which I spoke about mountaintop removal and the coal industry’s illegal and destructive practices in Appalachia.
Over a decade later, mountaintop removal caused by coal mining has flattened more than 1 million acres and 500 mountains in the region, and buried thousands of miles of vital Appalachian headwater streams while poisoning many more.
