Snowy owl’s story: from eggs to big chicks
Snowy owls are an iconic species of the Arctic. Animal world of the Arctic. Birds of prey. Snowy owl on the nest, parenting behavior, animal sounds. Snowy owl (named Kiki) nest. She nested in a warm year for the Arctic with a high number of lemmings in the tundra. Kiki started laying eggs later than other owls nesting in the area by almost ten days. Therefore, only 5 eggs were in her nest from which five offspring hatched. Reproduction requires great effort from parents. Her partner does a good job and brings enough food. The age difference between the chicks was about 8 days. Different ages of owlets require different feeding. It's amazing how moms handle it - they know exactly who they want to feed at the moment. Kiki clearly demonstrates this in the video at 10:40. Owls grow very fast. It took only about three weeks (from July 5 to July 28 ) as eggs and white lumps turned into large owlets (14:15).
