Showgirls might be considered one of those 'so bad it's good' type of films but I just can't stand it. The laughable dialogue, the awkward script and the remarkably unsexy situations really make me question how this was greenlit. Granted, the director has done some awesome movies like Robocop and Total Recall but this is so far from those, it feels alien. Here's my rant for Showgirls. Van Helsing is the definition of schlocky action/adventure movie. Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale fight Dracula, werewolves and a string of other monsters in this over-the-top film. The performances are pretty funny and 80% of the movie takes place in the sky. Seriously... everyone is in the sky, all the time! Howling 7 has so many gems but this moment takes the cake. A bloody shirt is found in a dumpster which leads the audience to believe something suspicious is going on with the main character. We find out a minute later though that it's paint. Making the whole setup instantly pointless and dumb. I love it. I was pleasantly surprised by The Pope's Exorcist. Maybe it helped that I watched it with incredibly low expectations. Still, Russell Crowe gives a fun performance as an exorcist and the family does a convincing job being terrorized by a child possessed by a demon. It's not scary but it's definitely entertaining! I just left the Regal Monday Mystery Movie. It was It Lives Inside. A new scary flick that I had never heard of. It was fun going into a movie like this without seeing a trailer ahead of time. Unfortunately, it's not the most exciting watch. A pretty boring cast, a slow pace and a meager budget put It Lives Inside on the less memorable side of things. The Pope's Exorcist 2023 Movie Review. Russell Crowe stars as a man of faith on a mission to remove demons from innocent folks. The exorcisms continue to get more aggressive and soon he will be going up against his greatest challenge yet! I had zero interest in seeing The Pope's Exorcist, so imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a pretty enjoyable watch. It's got a fast pace, some solid effects, a great performance from Crowe and an interesting vibe to it. I watched The Pope's Exorcist on Netflix since I missed it in theaters.
